San Jose, CA, Jan. 25, 2012 - Approximately 75 employees and people from the community gathered around the SCVMC flag pole today to hear the VMC Foundation’s big announcement that the Sobrato family is donating a $5 million challenge grant toward equipment for the new SCVMC 168-bed hospital building, currently under construction.
The gift is the largest private donation to any county hospital west of the Mississippi and the largest ever made to the VMC Foundation. SCVMC and the VMC Foundation have through 2013 to double the donation’s potential through matching. Chris Wilder, VMC Foundation Executive Director, also announced that the new building will be named the Sobrato Pavilion.
