The Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology with the Department of Internal Medicine is hosting a forum for medical professionals titled “Why, Tell Me Why, Did You Not Treat Me Right?” Domestic Violence and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: Why Don't Victims Leave? Cheryl Koopman, PhD, Research Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University, Jan Weber, MD, Department of Mental Health, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, and Susan Ditter, MD, Department of Mental Health, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center are the presenters. The forum will take place on the SCVMC campus in the Valley Specialty Center, Lower Level Conference Room from 8 am to 10 am. CME/CEU (2) are available. The Santa Clara Board of Supervisors and health care industry experts held an Economic Summit today at the County Government Center.  The Health Care Summit was one session in a three-part Economic Summit that examines job growth potential, trends and challenges in the areas of green economy, health care and small business, as well as how the County of Santa Clara government can help improve economic activity that will lead to business growth and greater employment.

The entire San Jose Giants team, led by Manager Andy Skeels and the mascot Gigante, visited over 20 children at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC). The kids are patients in Pediatrics or the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

The Trauma Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center participated in the “Every 15 Minutes” program. This two-day program for high school juniors and seniors challenges them to think about drinking, driving, the responsibility of making mature decisions, and the impact those decisions have on their personal safety, family, friends, and others.

This two-day program for high school juniors and seniors challenges them to think about drinking, driving, the responsibility of making mature decisions, and the impact those decisions have on their personal safety, family, friends, and others.

The Cisco System employees came to SCVMC to present a check to help the family of Edgar Flores. Five years ago this past summer, Edgar Flores was rushed to the Burn Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The funds are to help with medical and other expenses so the family can stay in the area and continue to get care from Dr. Yvonne Karanas and the Burn Center at SCVMC.
February 23, 24 & 25, 2012
Santa Clara Valley Medical Center hosted the second annual Santa Clara Valley Brain Injury Conference. Nationally and internationally recognized leaders in brain injury and rehabilitation research met at the conference to discuss new advancements for both military and civilian patients. The conference featured research findings produced through the Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), the Veterans Administration, medical centers, universities, and community agencies
