If you would like to find a patient in the hospital, please call the Hospital Operator at (408) 885-5000. Listen for the direction to ask for the Operator (or push "O") and they will be able to connect you to the patient's room or give you the room number.
When it is possible, we support open visiting hours (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). While a patient my request a visitor stay at bedside at all times, in some cases this may not be possible. Arrangements for overnight visits should be made in advance with the care team.
Because of our Open Visiting Policy, visiting hours are only limited by certain conditions. Staff may limit visiting for reasons like a court order or because of the patient's need for rest. Please check with the nurses if you have questions about these limits or the overall Visiting Policy or hours.
Children under 14 years of age may visit with the permission of the Attending Physician or Charge Nurse, as long as these guidelines are followed:
- Children under 14 years of age must pass a basic health screening before they can visit a patient's room
- Children under 14 years of age may not visit a patient whose immune system is compromised
- Infants and toddlers must be in arms or kept in car seats or strollers at all times
- No child may sit or play on the floor or the patient's bed
At all times all children must be supervised by a responsible adult who is not the patient. Please check with your nurse if you have questions.
In some circumstances one family member (18 years or older) may be allowed to stay overnight. The patient or family member needs to talk with his or her doctor to make sure staying overnight is appropriate and best for the patient.
