The Department of Alcohol & Drug Services embraces research that shows substance abuse disorders are prevalent across all boundaries regardless of age, socio-economic status, gender, and race demographics, and occur along a range of severity from misuse to addiction. DADS pro vides a comprehensive managed system of care tailored to each person’s needs – from prevention to early intervention to treatment to recovery to recovery monitoring.
The Mental Health Department provides a safety net for county residents whose lives have been or are in danger of being affected by a serious mental illness. The department coordinates and administers the community's mental health resources to ensure that those who are living with a mental illness can get the care they need.
Keeping the community safe and healthy is a team effort, and it starts with prevention. The Public Health Department works with a number of community organizations to reduce traffic accidents, curb youth violence, advocate for improved nutrition & increased physical activity, and to help people quit smoking. These programs and other work conducted by the department help to save and improve lives.
The Valley Medical Center Foundation is a dedicated to raising funds, resources and public awareness for Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The VMC Foundation generates financial and community support vital to the programs that benefit the health and welfare of patients at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and residents of our community, including assisting in the care and treatment of burn victims, premature babies, patients with spinal cord injuries, sexually abused children, victims of domestic violence, low-income children and families. Valley Health Plan (VHP) is a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), owned and operated by the County of Santa Clara. VHP has been serving the community for over 30 years and is the only locally based health plan Santa Clara County. VHP offers a wide range of health care benefits and plan options. An Individual & Family Plan is available to the public through Covered California, and an employer group plan is available to County of Santa Clara employees. VHP also provides managed care services on behalf of Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System. This includes financial management of claims, utilization management, and contract services for its uninsured population as well as managing provider credentialing for all SCVHHS contracted health plans.
