The Nephrology Division at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) provides a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, and educational services.
Inpatient activities include consultation, peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and plasma exchange. The inpatient team includes the nephrology attending, fellow, resident, and students. A nephrology social worker provides crucial support as well.
Outpatient activities are centralized in the Renal Care Center (RCC), which is located on the SCVMC campus at 2220 Moorpark Avenue. The RCC houses outpatient hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis units. The outpatient clinic, including a separate hypertension clinic, is also located in the RCC. The dialysis unit at the RCC provides outpatient services to approximately 180 hemodialysis patients and 40 peritoneal dialysis patients. All physicians work in the outpatient clinics. Additionally, a chronic team consisting of a fellow and attending physician regularly round in the dialysis unit as well as provide urgent outpatient nephrologic consultation.
