Center for Child Protection (CCP)
CCP provides sensitive, multi-disciplinary evaluations and services to infants and children who are the victims of alleged or actual physical or sexual abuse.
Center for Learning and Achievement (CLA)
CLA provides evaluation for older infants, children, and adolescents. Support and evaluation are available to patients who have certain conditions including:
- Asperger’s Syndrome
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autism
- Developmental Delays
- General Behavioral Problems
- Learning Problems
High-Risk Infant Follow-Up Clinic (HRIF)
The High-Risk Infant Follow-Up Clinic to evaluate and support infants who have been in a neonatal intensive care unit, including monitoring these infants for developmental problems. The clinic also provides the appropriate services to help these children overcome whatever challenges they may have.
Pediatric Allergy and Immunology
Pediatric Allergy and Immunology specialists provide a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of asthma, allergic and immunologic diseases for infants, children and adolescents. Services include diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services for patients with chronic and unusual infections including:
- Allergies or Hay Fever
- Atopic Dermatitis
- Eczema
- Food and Drug Allergies
- Primary Immunodeficiency
Pediatric Anesthesiology
Pediatric Anesthesiology by one of our pediatric anesthesiologists is for infants and children undergoing procedures and surgeries. These specialists have the training and experience to provide care in a way that recognizes the special needs of the young patient
Pediatric Cardiology (Heart Disease) Program
The Pediatric Cardiology Program provides diagnosis and management of congenital and acquired heart disease in infants, children, and adolescents. Cardiologists, nurses, social workers and others provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary care. Pediatric cardiology services include:
- Arrhythmia Diagnosis and Management
- Echocardiography
- EKG and Pre- and Post-operative Care
- Emergency consultations are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Pediatric Conscious Sedation
The Pediatric Conscious Sedation program provides pain control and sedation medications for patients undergoing same-day surgical or other procedures. Dramatic advances in sedation techniques along with a greater understanding of available sedatives and analgesics have led to safer, more effective sedation and analgesia in children, making it easier to provide relief to those patients who need it.
Pediatric Endocrinology (Hormonal Disorders)
Pediatric Endocrinology specialists diagnose and treat children with diabetes and a variety of other endocrine and metabolic disorders. These conditions include disorders relating to the following:

- Puberty-related Conditions

- Growth Problems

Pediatric Gastroenterology (Digestive and Nutritional Disorders)
Pediatric Gastroenterology provides a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of all gastrointestinal and liver disorders and the nutritional problems of infants, children and teenagers. The types of conditions addressed include:
- Acute and Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Special services include training and follow-up support for use of home enteral (tube feeding) or parenteral (intravenous) nutrition.
Pediatric Infectious Diseases
Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialists provide consultative diagnostic and treatment services for hospitalized or clinic patients with fevers of unknown cause and other types of identified acute or chronic infection. Services include diagnosis and care of children with immune problems including the evaluation and management of children with possible HIV infection.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is the only PICU in San Jose accredited by the California Children’s Services unit of the California Department of Health Services. Specially trained physicians, nurses, and others medical professionals care for critically ill or injured infants, children, and adolescents.
Neonatology (Critical ill Newborns) and Maternal-Fetal (Mother-Baby) Medicine
Neonatology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists care for more newborns than any other hospital in Santa Clara County. Obstetricians deliver babies in private birthing rooms. Healthy newborns then bond with their mothers and “room-in” with their moms immediately after birth. For women identified with high-risk pregnancies, perinatologists provide diagnosis, counseling, treatment, and delivery services. And because our Delivery Room Resuscitation Team is there to help babies with possible problems, obstetrical anesthesia is available round the clock.
Sick or premature newborns are admitted to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 40-bed, state-of-the-art facility accredited by California Children’s Services program of the California Department of Health Services. Neonatologists lead a multi-disciplinary team of specialists to care for the theses newborns in a family-centered way.
Pediatric Nephtology (Kidney Disease)
Pediatric Nephrology specialists provide consultation and treatment for children with kidney and urinary tract diseases including:
- Calcium and Phosphorus Metabolism Disorders
- Electrolyte Disorders
- Hypertension
- Nephritis
- Nephrosis
- Nutrition & Growth Disorders related to Kidney Disease

Diagnosis and management of patients with acute renal failure is also provided, as well as pre- and post-transplant care and care for infants and children with end-stage renal disease.

Pediatric Neurosurgery

Pediatric Ophthalmology (Eye Care)

Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery

Pediatric Psychiatry
Pediatric Psychiatry services are available at the Center for Learning and Achievement on an outpatient basis. The multi-disciplinary team offers diagnosis and treatment of the following disorders:

- Eating Disorders
- Mood Disorders
- Pervasive developmental Disorders
Psychiatric and psychological assessment, forensic assessment, therapy and medication management are available along with consultation and referral.
Pediatric Pulmonology
Pediatric Pulmonology provides care for patient with asthma, chronic lung disorders, cystic fibrosis, sleep disorders and other lung disease. Therapies are specialized to serve the distinctive developmental needs of infants, children and teens.
Pediatric Rehabilitation
Pediatric Rehabilitation for brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, is conducted with the Rehabilitation Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, a nationally recognized and accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) program. Rehabilitation specialists, including board certified physiatrists, provide comprehensive services to children with permanent and temporary disabilities resulting from chronic conditions, illness or injury. The goal is to help every child achieve the highest possible level of independence, health and ability to lead a happy, productive life. The multi-disciplinary team manages and treats disabilities related to brain and spinal cord injury, orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders, neurologic and neuromuscular conditions, cancer and others.
Pediatric Surgery
Pediatric Surgery specialists are specially equipped and trained to address the unique surgical needs of infants, children and adolescents. Practices, procedure, equipment and surroundings are designed to provide treatment appropriate to a child’s age and needs. This includes a minimally invasive surgical program that reduces risks and minimizes scarring. Clinicians engage families in the care process and work to assure the comfort and best possible outcome for the patient and family.
Pediatric Urology
Pediatric Urology manages infants and children with kidney and bladder problems, including congenital defects, recurrent urinary tract infections, undescended testes and other conditions. Medical and surgical care, which are tailored to the needs of the child, are offered.
