Dear Patients, Visitors, Friends and Colleagues of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center:

Tweet Share As you know we are always looking for ways to improve our services to best serve the needs of our community. We place a high value on the safety of our patients and staff and are doing our best to be vigilant in identifying opportunities to improve our safety posture.

To that end, effective September 5, 2017 we begin securing the front door (main) entrance of the M Building (formerly known as the New Main Building), nightly, beginning at 8:00 pm. The “front door” will be locked each night, Monday through Sunday, and will be reopened at 6:00 am on following morning. We will be directing all patients and visitors to the rear entrance in the K Building (also known as the West Wing) near the Emergency Department for any hospital services during these hours.

The two story parking structure (PS3) on Turner Drive is available for patient and visitor use. It is located directly across from Emergency Department and K Building entrances.

We recognize that this change is an adjustment for those community members that are used to entering the front of the hospital at all times. We believe however that this change will provide a more restful environment for our patients while also greatly improving the safety of our staff and patients and ensuring the security of our resources.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation and feel free to share this information with all interested parties.

Sincerely,

Paul E. Lorenz
