GASTROENTEROLOGY

GASTROINTESTINAL MOTILITY

Our multidisciplinary team specializes in using state-of-the art tests and procedures to evaluate suspected motility disorders.

Examples of these tests include:

  • High-Resolution Esophageal Manometry: this test measures the pressures in your esophagus when you are resting and when you swallow. These pressures will tell us if your esophagus is working normally. This test is often used to help evaluate difficulties in swallowing, problems with acid reflux, and prepare for and follow-up anti-reflux surgery.
  • Esophageal pH study: this test is used to evaluate for gastroesophageal reflux disease and to determine the effectiveness of medications that prevent acid reflux.
  • High-Resolution Anorectal Manometry: this test is done to evaluate patients with constipation and/or fecal incontinence. It helps identify the specific problems and the best treatments.
