Legal Assistance Programs

The Silicon Valley Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic is a partnership between Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley to provide legal services to patients.

The Silicon Valley Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic has 4 branches: Pediatrics, Adults at Valley Specialty Center,  Adults at Valley Downtown Health Center, and Adults at the Valley Homeless Health Care Program.

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, services are available by phone instead of in person at some clinic locations.

Pediatrics

1. Services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
2. Patients up to age 21 can access legal services for issues including guardianships, special education, housing, some immigration issues, and more. Patients up to age 25 can access legal services for name/gender changes.
3. To make an appointment call (408) 350-7260 or have your health care provider send in a referral.

Adults at Valley Specialty Center

1. Services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
2. Patients can access legal services related to public benefits, employment discrimination/accommodation, housing, advice and referral on immigration issues and more.

Adults at Valley Health Center Downtown

1. Services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
2. Patients who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or who were homeless in the last year, AND Gender Health Center patients can access legal services related to public benefits, employment discrimination/accommodation, housing, advice and referral on immigration issues and more.

Adults at Valley Homeless Healthcare Program

1. Services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
2. Patients who receive medical and/or mental health care through ANY of Valley Homeless Healthcare Program’s (VHHP’s) clinics, mobile unit, or street medicine team can access legal services for issues including benefits, employment discrimination/accommodation, housing, advice and referral on immigration issues and more.
3. To make an appointment call (408) 280-2420 or have your health care provider send in a referral.

Patients who are not in one of the 4 above groups may call the Law Foundation’s Housing Program at (408) 280-2424 (for legal issues related to housing) or the Law Foundation’s Health/Mental Health Program at (408) 280-2420​ (for a variety of legal issues).
