Medical Respite Program
The Medical Respite Program provides a place for persons experiencing homelessness to heal after they have been in the hospital. The program is a partnership between Valley Homeless Healthcare Program, Homefirst Shelter and the Hospital Council of Northern California. Located within the HomeFirst Shelter, the Medical Respite has 20 beds with semi-private, double occupancy rooms.
The team is made of a medical doctor, pharmacist, psychiatrist, psychologist, social workers, community health workers, substance use counselors and nurses. The team works together to meet the physical, mental, and social needs of the clients.
