David Jacobson, MD, FACP

 

​DAVID JACOBSON, MD, FACP

Program Director

Dr. Jacobson graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1992 with a B.S. in Geology and received his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center in 2000 and completed a Chief Medical Residency in 2001. He has over 20 years’ experience in teaching clinical medicine to medical students and residents in previous roles of Hospitalist, Associate Program Director and site Clerkship Director.​

    Dr. Jacobson has specific interests in bedside teaching, clinical reasoning, resident mentoring and faculty development. He believes every physician can become a better teacher through focused, direct observation of other educators. Dr. Jacobson has delivered innovative lectures and workshops on bedside teaching techniques at the local and national level. 

    He spends most of his free time with his family enjoying all the benefits of living in the Bay Area: incredible food, sunshine (or fog if you prefer), mountains, the ocean and wine country.​​


    CONNIE LO, MD, FACP

     

    CONNIE LO, MD, FACP

    Associate Program Director

    Dr. Lo graduated from Stanford University in 1995 with a BS with Distinction in Biology.  After medical school at UC San Diego, Dr. Lo completed her internal medicine residency training here at SCVMC and served as a chief resident from 2002-2003.

      Since that time, she has worked as a primary care physician and outpatient teaching attending at SCVMC with a strong dual commitment to serving the county’s patient population and the residency program.  Dr. Lo has been actively involved in residency education and joined the program leadership as an Associate Program Director in 2012.  In her free time, Dr. Lo enjoys running, baking (and then eating), watching old movies, and spending time with her family and friends.


      Brian Sung, MD

       

      Brian Sun, MD

      Associate Program Director

      Dr. Sun is a Bay Area native who graduated from UC San Diego in 2010 with a B.S. in Human Biology. He received his M.D. at Saint Louis University in Missouri. Afterwards, he returned home to San Jose and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center from 2015-2018.

        There, he fell in love with the program and stayed at SCVMC as a hospitalist for the teaching service. He is passionate about medical education and loves working with residents and medical students on the wards. He joined the program leadership as Associate Program Director in 2020. Outside of hospital, he enjoys travelling, hiking, and cooking. ​

        Associate Program Director

        Dr. Lin graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry in 2008 and received his M.D. in 2012 from Northwestern University. He was enrolled in the 7 year accelerated Honors Program in Medical Education (HPME).

          He completed internal medicine training at Stanford University, and subsequently, gastroenterology training at UCLA. During his fellowship training, he was selected as the chief fellow. He has published research in gastrointestinal bleeding, esophageal motility disorders, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. 

          Dr. Lin attends on the inpatient gastroenterology consultative service as well as the outpatient gastroenterology clinic and endoscopic procedures. He is the director of the motility clinic and co-director of the outpatient gastroenterology clinic. He values working with Santa Clara Valley internal medicine residents and Stanford gastroenterology fellows.

          Outside of work, you can find him woodworking in his garage, barbequing brisket on his offset smoker, or exploring the bay area. ​
